Berry Pond Description

Not a place you wanna go to catch bass! Berry pond is a tiny little pond that is located in Harold Parker State Forest. Maximum depth is 87’ feet. YES, I SAID 87! This is due to the pond being formed by a glacier thousands of years ago leaving a spot 87 feet down, told to me by a state park sheriff. It is a natural pond with a mud bottom and brown water near the beach. Aquatic vegetation is common, but not overly abundant. Fishermen can park near the beach area located on the northern end of the pond, but there is no formal launching area. Due to the small size of the pond and the fact that the shoreline is entirely accessible, boats are neither required or encouraged. Fish: brown bullhead, yellow perch, pumpkinseed and golden shiner. Approximately 500 trout are stocked every spring.

Although the yellow perch may provide some limited panfish action here, the only sport fishery is represented by a limited number of stocked trout, available only during the spring months. Fishing pressure is generally light, and despite the lack of fishery resources, the pleasant surroundings make this an attractive pond to visit.
